Virginia City is a former mining boomtown located in western Nevada. The town developed in 1859 after discovery of the Comstock Lode, a major deposit of silver and precious metals.

Consistently ranked among the United States' most haunted places, Virginia City "has ghosts and stories and tales of those who lived long ago" in every building.  The Old Washoe Club served as an overflow morgue while the Silver Queen Hotel keeps a book for guests to document paranormal experiences. Meanwhile, the Silver Terrace Cemetery features a glowing headstone and "ghostly girl who rises from her grave on certain nights".

Virginia City is designated a National Historic Landmark and consists of over 400 contributing properties. The town attracts two million visitors annually "in hopes of having a ghostly encounter".

Gatsby Mansion

Gatsby Mansion, known as Pendray Inn and Tea House, is a restaurant and hotel located in Laurel Point, Victoria. The area is considered a sacred burial ground for the Lekwungen Nation.

The tribe practiced sky burials, a funerary custom whereby corpses are placed high in trees to "allow the elements to clean the flesh from the bones". In 1885, immigrant Jacob Sehl cleared the land to build a furniture factory, destroying many human remains and forever cursing the location.

The factory burned down in 1894 and witnesses reported "figures leaping and dancing in the flames". In 1908, William Pendray reconstructed a paint factory on site, only to die instantly when a metal pipe fell from the ceiling. Pendray's son Ernest passed away several years later after being trampled by a spooked horse outside the factory.

Today the Gatsby Mansion is widely known as one of the most haunted locations in Victoria. It is rumored that "if you would like to see a ghost, there is a good chance your wish will be granted".

San Jacinto mountain range hosts a mysterious evil spirit known as Tahquitz.  The cannibalistic phantom reportedly lives in a glass cave near Tahquitz Canyon, a nature preserve maintained by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

According to Native American legend, Tahquitz spies on potential victims throughout the day and consumes their souls at night. The specter manifests as a large green fireball and its shadow is seen frequently moving across the canyon side.

Amstel House
Amstel House, also known as the Dr. Finney House, is a colonial era residence located in New Castle, Delaware. The building was home to Governor Nicholas Van Dyke and frequented by signers of the Declaration of Independence.

The National Park Service claims Amstel House is the town's “most haunted mansion.” A woman in blue reportedly stalks the upper floors and is known to open and close windows. The spirit is apparently familiar with the Finney household as it also haunts a family dwelling down the street.

In 1977 the Amstel House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it is operated by the New Castle Historical Society.
