Ghost Trees is a coastal area located adjacent to the 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, CA. Considered among the most dangerous surfing waves in the world, the location is known for 60-foot waves, strong currents, and white sharks.

According to local legend, a "Lady in Lace" appears near one of the lone remaining Monterey Cypress trees and is said to startle motorists along the famed 17-Mile Drive. Many believe that the spirit "is responsible for several accidents along the road".

Ghost Trees is accessible by vehicle after paying an entry free at any of the Pebble Beach Corporation entry kiosks.

Heath Ledger died in his New York City loft on January 22, 2008. His death was ruled an accidental overdose from a mix of drugs including Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Diazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam, and Doxylamine.

Ledger was 28-years-old when found unresponsive by his housekeeper and masseuse around 3:30pm. Paramedics attempted to revive him through CPR but were unsuccessful. Ledger's passing prompted many fans to gather outside the building in the days following.

A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his role as Joker in The Dark Knight film. His performance earned universal praise and earned a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Today the building has been renovated into additional condo units, but Ledger's loft remains largely untouched.

On December 16, 1935 the body of actress Thelma Todd was found in the garage of her Pacific Palisades home. "Despite the fact there was blood on her head, dress, coat, and car and that her ribs, nose, and teeth were broken," the police reported she died from self-inflicted asphyxiation.

Todd shared the home with acclaimed film director Roland West, who was overheard arguing with the actress the night of her death. "Theories and rumors refuse to die" as "numerous sightings of Thelma's ghost have awakened interest in her life and death".

The Dakota

The Dakota is an apartment building located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Constructed between 1880 and 1884, the building is the oldest remaining luxury residential complex in New York City.

On the evening of December 8, 1980, John Lennon was assassinated at the entrance of the Dakota. The musician is believed to haunt his former residence as tenants report seeing "the ghost of Lennon himself standing at the entrance and surrounded by an ominous looking light".

Gatsby Mansion

Gatsby Mansion, known as Pendray Inn and Tea House, is a restaurant and hotel located in Laurel Point, Victoria. The area is considered a sacred burial ground for the Lekwungen Nation.

The tribe practiced sky burials, a funerary custom whereby corpses are placed high in trees to "allow the elements to clean the flesh from the bones". In 1885, immigrant Jacob Sehl cleared the land to build a furniture factory, destroying many human remains and forever cursing the location.

The factory burned down in 1894 and witnesses reported "figures leaping and dancing in the flames". In 1908, William Pendray reconstructed a paint factory on site, only to die instantly when a metal pipe fell from the ceiling. Pendray's son Ernest passed away several years later after being trampled by a spooked horse outside the factory.

Today the Gatsby Mansion is widely known as one of the most haunted locations in Victoria. It is rumored that "if you would like to see a ghost, there is a good chance your wish will be granted".

The Hanging Tree monument marks the location where "two banditos" were hung in 1857.  Francisco Ardillero and Juan Catabo, members of the Flores Gang, were lynched in a sycamore grove for murdering a LA County Sheriff.

In 2007, Santiago Fire uncovered the monument, which was hidden for years by mustard plants. Access to the location is provided by OC Parks and Irvine Ranch Conservancy.

455 Central Park West

455 Central Park West opened in 1887 as New York Cancer Hospital. The facility gained reputation as a death trap due to allegations of patient abuse and a visibly active crematorium onsite.

The building was abandoned in 1974 and suffered from "years of disrepair, rumors of ghosts, and staycations by the drug-addled". It was later restored as a luxury condo with units boasting "direct views of Central Park, wood-burning fire places, and ghosts...because it is haunted".

While neighbors are undecided if "the castle is haunted by the dead or only haunted by the past", nearly all agree the property is "strangely unsettling".

Manhattan Well Murder

On January 2, 1800, the body of Gulielma Sands was found inside a well located at 129 Spring Street in New York City. There were "strong suspicions of [Sands] having been willfully murdered" by her secret lover Levi Weeks.

In what became the first recorded murder trial in history, Weeks was defended in court by wealthy friends Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. The case was largely circumstantial and Weeks was acquitted after five minutes of jury deliberation. The decision was widely criticized in local newspapers and Weeks was forced to flee New York City for the small town of Natchez, Mississippi, where he became a successful architect.

The well is preserved in the basement of a clothing store and is a popular destination for paranormal enthusiasts. The Travel Channel named the location among the "10 Most Haunted Places in America" while employees regularly report disembodied screams coming from the well.
